Car Insurance in Ten Minutes

12048709_lAll over the world in most countries (at least in theory) if you drive a car you need insurance for it. Clearly, organizing your car insurance is not the most exciting subject in the world; I am told that the drying of certain colors of paint is more stimulating to watch. Having said that, the fact remains whether you live in Harrisburg PA, downtown Barcelona or the Watford gap in the UK, car insurance in Harrisburg PA or any where in UK is a legally binding responsibility that you as the registered owner of the vehicle have to take care of. This begs the obvious question……

Why do you have to have car insurance?

In the US the average weight of a car is about two tons, in Europe it is about 1.5 tons when the vehicle is travelling at 50-60mph it can have a big impact on other vehicles. In addition the simple fact is that on a long enough timeline anything is possible. This means that no matter how careful or experienced a driver you may be an accident of one kind or another is possible. Car insurance is a mechanism that protects you, the passengers, the vehicle and any damage to property which results from the results of any accident. Car insurance provides financial recompense in these scenarios by insuring drivers from Harrisburg PA to Shanghai and back again against their liability to the property of other drivers.

How much is my car insurance?

There is no simple answer to this question, there really are too many variables to say that if you have X car you will pay Y insurance. Any insurance company will consider the following points:

1. What type of car and the age and experience of the named driver(s)
2. Is the car in a garage or not?
3. How many named drivers are going to be using the vehicle
4. What is the car going to be used for
5. What is your claims history? That is how much no claims bonus do you have?

Within this framework further variables include previous traffic offences, covering anything from jumping a red light to drink driving. The latter is probably about the worst thing you can do behind the wheel of a car. I essence the more serious the offence and/or the more accidents you have been involved in, the higher the premium.
